Hot Tub Benefits

The Power of Healing
Hydrotherapy, or warm water therapy in hot tub spas, consists of three main healing ingredients; heat, buoyancy, and massage. Together, they create an experience that is both relaxing and healthy. Hot tub hydrotherapy on a regular basis provides physical health benefits that go much deeper than just relaxation and pleasure. Whether you are experiencing joint or muscle pain, having trouble sleeping, or are just plain stressed out, spending time in hot tub spas can provide therapeutic benefits for just about everyone. And overall, hydrotherapy studies have shown that the health benefits of immersion in warm water with massage jet action include the lowering of blood pressure, loosening of arthritis joints, as well as help with the control of blood sugar and body weight.

Stress, headaches and sleep
Warm water massage stimulates the body to release endorphins that reduce stress naturally. In addition to stress reduction, a hot tub’s hydrotherapy jets also dilate blood vessels to help prevent headaches. Also, when it comes to falling asleep faster and getting a good night’s sleep, the National Sleep Foundation clearly states that soaking in hot water, such as a hot tub or bath, before retiring to bed can ease the transition into a deeper sleep.

Muscles and joints
The Hydrotherapy used on skin and muscles loosen and relax from the increased blood circulation. A soak in a hot tub or whirlpool increases blood flow to the injured area, bringing nutrients to help repair the damage.

Arthritis
One in three Americans-about 70 million people-has some form of arthritis. Although there are over 100 different kinds of arthritis, most are characterized by inflammation of the joints which causes swelling, pain and stiffness, often resulting in loss of joint movement or function. Many people affected by arthritis seek relief by soaking in warm and soothing waters. A hot tub can provide the warmth, massage and buoyancy needed to both relax and exercise joints and muscles in the convenience and comfort of your own backyard. Relaxed muscles create an overall feeling of comfort which can then make it easier to perform exercises and carry out daily tasks.

Diabetes
For the more than 16 million people who have diabetes, help may be as close as the nearest hot tub. According to a study by a Colorado researcher published in the New England Journal of Medicine the benefits of hot tub therapy can be beneficial for people who are affected with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. With this type of diabetes, people can often control their condition with regular exercise and a good diet. Unfortunately, many diabetics are physically unable to endure rigorous activity and maintain a steady weight. In a recent study conducted by Dr. Philip Hooper at the McKee Medical Center in Colorado, eight people with Type 2 Diabetes were placed in a hot tub for 30 minutes a day for three consecutive weeks. The results indicated that patients reported a 13% reduction in blood sugar levels, improved sleep and an increase in their overall sense of well being.

Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy and more
The muscle relaxing and joint loosening benefits of hot tubs help those with depression, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Tendonitis, Scoliosis and Bursitis. Thermo Spas hot tubs have even been known to provide significant help for those afflicted with diseases as serious as Multiple Sclerosis and Cerebral Palsy.
